Happy New Year!

We purposely made today a travel day because we knew things would be closed, and that it would probably be much quieter for traveling. It was a great day of travel! We were scheduled for a morning train ride to Gothenburg. We learned our lesson last time so we planned for a ton of extra time and Adeline even woke up a little early so that helped us get going! We made it to the train station in plenty of time and even had time for fika. This time we took a different rail line, it was the fancy new hi-speed train! On top of having a relaxed morning, we really enjoyed having a day off from exploring and walking all over the city. We've made great use of our time but we're tired! The train was super nice, but the food was mediocre compared to the other rail line that we took from Copenhagen to Stockholm. We enjoyed a veggie wrap and cheese sandwich for lunch.

We had a super smooth ride to Gothenburg and our hotel was just a block away from Central Station. We loved our apartment in Stockholm but it was nice to be checking in to a luxury hotel! We dropped off our bags and went walking through the commercial area. While we were on the train I noticed that the uppers of my winter boots were separated from the sole, so we scoped out some shoe stores to stop by the next day to get a new pair.

Our Hotel - It's the former post office!

Welcome note and treats from Volvo!

Given that it was New Year's Day most places were closed (which we figured would be the case) but we were able to find a fantastic burger place for dinner. Tugg was so yummy!

We made our way back to the hotel and got Adeline all snuggled in to bed. We set our phones on an audio facetime call to act as a baby monitor and went down to the hotel lounge for a "date night!" How fun!
