Tivoli Christmas Market
Will and Adeline adjusted remarkably well. Adeline woke up a couple of times the first couple nights but quickly got back to sleep. I on the other hand slept terribly and was up at 4am for days! But today we were determined to make it to Tivoli Gardens for the Christmas market since it was the last day until after Christmas, but by then we'd be on our way to Stockholm. So we got up and at it and walked over, making our way through Old Town and Indre By. It even snowed a little!
Adeline took really long naps in her "hygge muff" (the name we came up with for her stroller blanket) which allowed us to take in all the little shops and sip on lots of glögg with "snaps" (which is actually a shot of rum, but it's "snaps" for the purpose of staying warm, of course!). I thought I was being pretty good at making sure she would be warm enough on our walks by getting her the "hygge muff" but it turns out it's pretty much a requirement over there! Every stroller around - and there were a lot - had a kid all sorts of bundled in snowsuits and stroller blankets similar to Adeline's. Her's was the cutest though! Our souvenirs from the gardens were glögg mugs and a little felted troll from one of the shops. These little trolls were everywhere!
We stopped at Faergekroens Brewery in the gardens for lunch. Will had a platter of different types of marinated herring and I had salmon. Adeline had one of her beloved pouches.
After lunch Adeline was back asleep so we walked around a bit more.
Then it was time to stop by the grocery store because they were going to be closed for the next three days! One thing we learned when traveling to Germany a few years ago is that Europeans take Christmas very seriously and pretty much everything closes down from the 24th - 26th. So we wanted to be sure to stock up in case we couldn't find any restaurants open.
We dropped our groceries off at the apartment and then went out exploring some more. Adeline even fell asleep again! We tried to visit the Royal Smushi Cafe for open face sandwiches, but the kitchen was closed, so we went to Illum, which is like Nordstrom, where the whole top level of the building is different restaurants with outdoor patios (enclosed and heated for the winter). We had an amazing salmon salad at Jacobson Bar. Adeline enjoyed her pouch and loved watching the people down below! Then it was time to call it a night and head home.
The Royal Smushi Cafe - they have mini open face sandwiches. We tried to get some but they were only serving the breakfast menu : ( |

Such beautiful flowers in the middle of winter with snow on them! |

The brewery is in the middle on the left. It was so scenic to sit along the lake! |
