Exploring Södermalm

Today we went exploring in Södermalm - aka "Hipster Island." We really liked the vibe here and would totally live here if we lived in Stockholm. We started the day with our usual routine of yogurt, meusli, and the hygge suit!

Outside of our apartment. The building was built in 1662! I would love to know the history of everyone who has lived here!

After we crossed the bridge leaving Gamla Stan we walked to the cantilevered walkway to the city overlook. It was so cold but very cool. Apparently winter is construction season!

We made our way into Södermalm and got a "walking fikka" since Adeline was napping. Will got us the most amazing cinnamon bun, cardamom bun, and saffron bun. Try saying "cardamom bun" without accidentally saying cardamom bum. It's so hard! We decided that if you eat too many cardamom buns, you end up with cardamom bum. ha!

We just kept exploring the neighborhood as long as Adeline was napping. We came across another park. (So many all over Europe. If only Adeline could walk!) I loved this one because after looking around I noticed it was all Dads with their kids. So cool! So I took a picture of Will with Adeline so he could be a part of the Dads club.

Such a cute bird feeder! Apparently they don't have issues with squirrels?!

Lots of Dads!

Adeline woke up so we stopped at Whitman's for lunch. It was a cafe opened by a Canadian expat. We had a delish tuna melt and red lentil soup. Adeline loved it all!

We then walked off our food comas through a park to explore Sofia kyrka. Along the way there were great sledding hills and they had even padded the trees and lightposts with bumpers!

As we left Sofia kyrka we past houses that were for shipyard workers, dockers, and labourers who lived in these teeny tiny houses with their families in terrible poverty. Though it's not poverty stricken anymore, people still live here even without access to running water.

From here we booked it to Skinnarviksberget before the sun was totally set (mind you this is like 3:30pm!) to get a nice overlook of Stockholm. I didn't get to see much because it was so rocky so I stayed down below with Adeline, but Will got some nice pictures!

Street leading up to the lookout

SO beautiful!!

Adeline kind of started to lose it so we again booked it to the closest place we could find where I could nurse her. We found "Tiffany's" where we had some chips and salsa and guac. We finished the night with a beautiful walk home and Will and I had some leftover pesto after we put Adeline to bed.

Goodnight Stockholm!
