Exploring Stockholm and Keeping Adeline Warm!
We woke up to a beautiful day in Stockholm. We couldn't wait to get out and explore so we had a quick breakfast and were on our way to explore Gamla Stan
We've been trying so hard to keep Adeline warm (mainly her legs/feet) with adding more and more layers every time we go exploring. Today I think we figured it out! Here's the layering system:
We walked around the Southeast section of the island.
We crossed over the water to the south to go to the Systembolaget, the government run liquor store which is the only place you can buy alcohol higher than 3.5% other than a restaurant. So we grabbed a few bottles for the next few days. I was skeptical of this set up, but they are actually really nice with a great selection! You just have to plan around the hours and holidays, but that's no different than what we were used to from Minnesota (much different from California and Hawai`i though!)
Then it was time for lunch! We went back to Gamla Stan near our apartment for an amazing Italian lunch. We had lobster tortellini and balsamic risotto and enjoyed the salad bar as well. Next we stopped back at the apartment to drop off some things and get Adeline changed up.

1 - Tights
2 - Pants
3 - Fleece Booties
4 - Hygge Suit (the snowflake snowsuit)
5 - Fuzzy socks in adult size that we got in Copenhagen - pulled up like thigh highs!
6 - Towel folded into thirds and wrapped around her legs
7 - Zipped up in Hygge Muff!
Needless to say it takes a little while to get her all bundled! It's only been in the 30s or so but since Adeline's not moving and she catches a bit of the wind her poor legs and feet get cold. This has seemed to do the trick!
This is definitely a Randy "I can't put my arms down!" situation. |

All ready to go back out exploring! |
We shopped around a bit in Gamla Stan, but there really wasn't anything we particularly needed. Even the 40% off sweaters were still at least $175. So instead of shopping we kept up with our exploring. We walked up the ramp at the palace and decided that instead of water for a moat they made it an icy ramp! They put down gravel but it was still scary to walk on and I made Will take hold of the stroller so I didn't end up slipping and letting it go! yikes!
We continued walking around the outskirts of Gamla Stan, enjoying the views of the palace and the parliament building, the piers and the docks. We even saw the guards of the palace chatting with the tourists; I guess there aren't any imminent dangers!
We made a stop back at the apartment to feed Adeline and get her changed up before we went back out for a quick little snack for dinner - cod!
Christmas Decoration Goals! |
Such a hygge place for dinner! |
