Christmas Eve in Copenhagen

Merry Christmas Eve! Today is the primary day of the Christmas holiday for Denmark, so just about everything was closed. (We came across Starbucks and 7-11). Thankfully we were well prepared for this enjoyed a day of meals at home and lots of walking around!

Adeline slept a straight 13 hours (like a travel ninja, Will says!) so she was well rested and ready to go for the day.

After breakfast we were off for a day of exploring. The first stop was Nyhavn, the famous waterfront area along the canal. A few vendors from the Christmas market were still open, so we were able to get some glögg to enjoy as we walked.

Cute little courtyard

We then walked over to the Royal Palace and arrived just in time for the changing of the guards. The royal family still lives here! It's amazing to think of what these places were like long ago.

The guards walking to the Rosenborg Slot (castle) where they live.

Spotted our car! (OK, not our car, but an XC40! We're getting pretty excited about picking ours up!)
We looped back through Old Town on our way back to the apartment, where we had falafel for lunch. We let Adeline wiggle around a little bit and then we were back out adventuring! We walked through Christiansborg Slot (Danish for Castle). We walked past the old stock exchange and through the riding grounds. It was so beautiful! I loved the Christmas trees - they had twinkling lights! Talk about #goals.

We were pretty tired after our day of exploring so we went home for pizza and wine for dinner and to plan out our next day's adventures!
