Let the Adventures Begin!

This holiday season was packed with travel, which was fun, exciting, adventurous, and exhausting! After a very relaxing long weekend with the Kelly family in Chicago, we were off to Nuremberg, Germany! Our dear friends Nate and Emily had moved there last March for work. At the time they were planning on being there for about a year so we planned to visit them for Christmas. In the meantime, they ended up coming back to Minneapolis in October, but they ventured back to Germany to meet us for the holidays since we had already booked our whole trip!

On our very long, but very uneventful trip to Nuremberg we had a stopover in Munich. We enjoyed a yummy pizza while we waited for our next flight. We were so excited to be back in Germany that Will put mustard on his pizza! When in Germany, I guess!

With only a couple hours of plane sleeping under our belts, we arrived in the early afternoon in Nuremberg. Even though we were running on fumes we figured the best way to get on a decent schedule was to power through the day. We checked in to our hotel to clean up, and were off to explore Nuremberg!

We walked through Old Town Nuremberg and strolled around the Christkindlesmarkt (Christmas Market) while we sipped gluhwein (mulled wine). One vendor was a craft brewer, of which there are very few in Germany. He had rotbier (red beer) and products like mustard and liqueur made from the rotbier. It was delicious. Will and Nate got some rotbier to go and we picked up a few gifts and mustard. While we were walking around there were stands everywhere of people selling Nuremberger sausage sandwiches. Of course Will had to try it!

A cute restaurant on the river where we would later have dinner on our last night in Germany.

Strolling through the market.

Then it was dinner time. Nate and Emily took us to one of their favorite restaurants at the Albrecht Duhrer house. It was a great welcome to Nuremberg.

After dinner we went to a nearby brewhaus for a "meter of beer!" We just loved walking through these beautifully historic streets.
