Beach Day
Today we took the beautiful weather and a day off to visit what is considered one of the best beaches in the world.
Before heading to the beach we had an amazing breakfast at Moena Cafe in Hawaii Kai. Then we drove up the Windward Coast to Kailua, and found one of the small access points to Lanakai Beach. We didn't take our phones with us so we didn't get a picture, but here's one I found online that gives you a good idea. I can't wait to visit this beach again. We walked along the beach, snorkeled, and soaked up the sun. On our walk we saw a lady walking her dogs. There is a section of the beach where the water goes right up to the retaining wall so there's no sand. Her big dog swam, but she had two little pugs who rode on a boogie board she pulled behind her! It was the cutest and funniest thing I've seen in a long time!
After a few hours at the beach we explored around Kailua, which wasn't much other than a couple strip malls and chain stores. We grabbed some iced tea and decided to go back to Honolulu to have a late lunch at the Kona Brewing Company in Hawaii Kai.
We went home to relax a bit and shower. We caught the sunset while we were back. It's so beautiful!
We went to the Chart House down the street for a light dinner later that night.
