Exploring the Silverado Trail

Will has been traveling a lot again lately, so we made sure to plan a day for us to escape from the hustle and bustle of things and just sit back, relax, and enjoy each others' company. What better way to do that than a trip to Napa? And especially at this time of the year! So beautiful.

Our first destination was brunch. We ate at the Boon Fly Cafe which proved to be just as good as the reviews said. They serve fresh, warm, mini cinnamon donuts, spicy bloody marys, and mimosas that aren't 3/4 full of orange juice! The restaurant was really busy, which we knew would be the case, but we were lucky enough to get seats at the counter shortly after we arrived. There weren't any great photo ops here, but check out their website for some nice photos! It is a beautifully rustic/modern cafe.

Next we set out for the Silverado Trail of Napa. The first winery we visited was Silverado Vineyards. This local is known for its spectacular views, as well as its wine.

Spectacular views!

Up the Silverado Trail is Mumm Napa, a champagne winery. The Hermans gave Will a fabulous bottle of their bubbly for his graduation. We enjoyed it completely and were excited when the opportunity arose for us to visit their winery.

For our final stop we continued North into St. Helena to visit a winery we belong to. Back in September we stopped by Cerruti Cellars, a tasting room in Jack London Square, not far from Will's office. The wine was great and reasonably priced, so we decided to join as members. The winery itself, Tudal Winery, is located in St. Helena, and as members we get to visit for free. We were so happy to get to see first hand the winery we belong to, and experience the relaxed atmosphere. Tudal Winery is a private winery, which means you have to set up an appointment, unless of course you are members like us and you can just stop in! We got a full tour of the winery grounds tasted some of the wines not yet in the tasting room, including a great pinot noir, which is hard to come by in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. The best thing about this winery that I love, and which will keep me a member for as long as I can, is that it's not just a come up to the bar, drink a small pour of wine, and make small talk with your bartender kind of place; rather, it's a, here's a glass of wine let's walk around outside while I tell you about everything and hang out with the dog, kind of place. After spending a few hours here this afternoon, we can't wait to go back!

Hanging out in the "Man Cave" which is really the barrel room, but they have two leather recliners and a big screen TV for the games!

Tasting room, office, and "man cave."

Here's a little photo shoot with me and Sadie. She is the sweetest dog EVER!

Kisses!

That was a big kiss, Sadie!

And with that, it was time to head home. We had such a relaxing day in Napa! Can't wait to do it again!
