Another Fun Weekend!

Friday

I packed a picnic lunch and met Will down at the harbor at Jack London Square. It is such a beautiful area! We have been discovering many amazing areas to have picnics.

Saturday

Saturday was a day of taking care of business and relaxing around the pool. There we met two new friends who just moved here from NY! We had an impromptu dinner party and enjoyed spending hours around the kitchen table chatting.


If ever you don't see an update from us, this is probably what we are doing : )



Sunday

We decided to go explore the neighborhood next to ours, Piedmont.  We had a delicious brunch at Park Avenue Bar and Grill. (Though there are no streets named Park Ave nearby, so we're not sure where the name came from!)



After brunch we stopped in at a wine shop across the street and did a wine tasting of some fabulous German wines.  We walked down the street and got some coffee, then walked around the neighborhood a bit.  We hopped back in the Jetta and went for a drive! As we were tooling around town, we stumbled upon the main entrance of the rose garden that I had discovered a couple weeks ago. Turns out this rose garden has species of roses that can now only be found in this garden! It is also considered to be one of the top ten most important rose gardens in the country. Speaking of picnics, we will definitely be back for one here!















While driving we stumbled upon a few open houses. We went into two. One of which was perfect but way too expensive, and the other was the perfect location (down the street from our apartment) but too small! Oh well, maybe someday . . .

Later Sunday night Will went golfing with the CEO and CFO of his company. He got some great pics while he was there and on his way home!

Happy Halloween!

Even though last year was technically Adeline's first Halloween, this year felt like the first true Halloween because we got to go out and enjoy the festivities! The Temescal Business District hosted a Trick-or-Treating event for the kids and had fun activities along the way like free books from the library, story time, a dance party at the yoga studio, costume contests, and more I'm sure but we only made it a few blocks! We had a great time and the businesses were so generous and kind to the kids. Our little ladybug! She would only wear the wings from her costume, but she held on to the wand and headband. There was a fun skirt, too but she didn't want anything to do with it. Oh well. People still thought she was cute! Getting some raisins. Still trying to understand the concept of Trick-or-Treating! Will Pitches Hawaii

Will's company, Terviva, recently won a grant allowing them to get a commercial size planting of their trees in the ground. The project will take place mostly on the island of Oahu. As part of the grant program the company is invited to pitch its concept to a group of about 250 private investors from the state of Hawaii. Since Will has been working so hard on getting the project going, he was the person chosen to give the pitch! Will worked incredibly hard preparing for this event and did a great job! Will created new connections and peaked the interest of several people in the audience. Will has received great praise for his work by his colleagues and the people who are offering the grant. A Day in Napa Valley

Beginning with our first wedding anniversary, Will and I have spent a day visiting a winery or two.  It was my dream that someday we would take a trip to Napa or Sonoma to celebrate our anniversary; maybe for our 20th anniversary or the like. Never did I imagine that we would be spending our third wedding anniversary exploring Napa and San Francisco! We decided a short while ago that we didn't want to have to worry about either of us driving, one, because neither of us really knew where we were going, two, so that both of us could look out the windows and enjoy the scenery, and three is a no brainer, we would be tasting wine all day!  We explored some options and decided on a shuttle bus tour that would take us from SF to Napa, take us to several wineries, and end with a ferry ride on the bay back into the city.
