Beach Dayz
Our plan for today was beach, beach, and more beach. Our condo was right across the street from the beach access to one of the most beautiful beaches. However, we decided to start our morning by visiting Makena Beach, a few miles south of Kihei. From what we read the winds pick up and clouds roll in by the afternoon, so the morning sounded like the best time to visit. When we got there is was spectacular. The water was calm and crystal clear, like swimming in a pool! The views were also gorgeous with Koho`olawe and Molokini out in the water, and the huge cinder cone at the North end of the beach.
Our timing was perfect because as lunch time approached the wind picked up and the water became rough. It wasn't as crystal clear as earlier in the day. So we packed up our gear and headed to the Five Palms for lunch along the beach. We shared a fish sandwich and salad which were delish.
After lunch we took the car back to our condo and headed to the beach across the street. We swam all afternoon; the water was so pleasant! We swam with views of Koho`olawe and West Maui. Will had a great time admiring the catamarans in the water and dreaming up a sailing trip through the island chain.
I was starting to get pretty wrinkled, and we had plans for a sunset dinner, so we walked back to the condo to shower up and headed to Kapa Bar and Grill at the Wailea Beach Marriot. We enjoyed dinner along the water while listening to live music and watching the sun set into the Pacific. We thought about visiting the Maui Brewing Company but this mama was tired, so it was back to the condo for the night.
