Aloha, Kaua`i!

A few months ago we got an email from our college friend, Angie, who lives in San Diego. She was going to be on Kaua`i for a wedding, and was wondering if we'd happen to be there during that time. We thought about it a little, and of course we could go over! Why not? So Will made it into a little work trip for Thursday morning, and I used a little vacation time and headed over Thursday afternoon. I even managed to grab an earlier flight since I got to the airport a little early and there was room on the flight before mine.

Will picked me up from the airport in a sporty silver convertible and we headed over to Kauai Beer Company for a drink, nibble, and to decompress about our days before we drove up to the North Shore. Once we got up there we found our condo then went to meet Angie and her friends for dinner at Dolphin Sushi. We had a couple really delicious rolls. After a little night cap we said goodnight, stopped at the grocery store for breakfast goodies, and

Friday morning we picked Angie up bright and early. We headed to Kilauea Lighthouse and wildlife sanctuary. We saw so many sea birds!

We drove down to Kapa`a for fish tacos at Oasis on the Beach.

We walked around Kapa`a town a bit, stopping at Kauai Juice Company for some of the awesome hot sauce that we tried at lunch. Since it was Cinco de Mayo we had to stop for a margarita, too!

Since we were close by we stopped by `Opaeka`a Falls for a little scenic overlook.

Angie had never been to Kaua`i before so we just had to take her to Waimea Canyon. We were already half way there, so why not? We stopped at a few over looks along the way and at one point we noticed traffic backing up. We came to realize there was a little dog in the road! Some sort of little terrier guy. Will stopped the car and I got out and picked her up. Angie noticed that there was a tag on the collar that showed she was deaf. Poor thing! Will finally got a hold of the owner and she came and picked Joy up. Unfortunately it seemed like this wasn't the first time it had happened, but at least we could help the little girl out this time!

After saving animals we continued on our way to the canyon. The lighting was just beautiful since the sun was starting to set. Then we got to enjoy the sun setting to the north of Ni`ihau on our way back down. It was stunning and really did bring a tear to my eye. Life is so beautiful and it's times especially like this that I just can't believe how lucky we are.

For dinner the girls had veggie burgers (Will had fish) and local beer at Kauai Island Brewery. We cruised back to the North Shore jammin' to some sweet pandora tunes. We had such a special day with Angie!
