New Year's Eve in Sydney!

One of the most exciting things that worked out about visiting Sydney this time of year is that it coincided with New Year's Eve! Sydney is one of the most popular places in the world to ring in the new year, so we couldn't wait to be one of the first in the world to turn over a new year. For breakfast we'd been eating yogurt and fruit in our room the past couple days, so this morning we were in the mood for brunch. Plus, while we were out last night deciding where to eat dinner we saw a restaurant named Bloody Mary's. We knew we had to brunch at a place with a name like that! And their food looked delicious, too. So after a morning of sleeping in a bit we made our way down the street for brunch. I had a salmon bagel with avocado and Will had an open face salmon sandwich with egg. It was one of the best meals we've had so far. We also, of course, had their signature bloody marys. Bondi to Coogee

Originally the 6 km coastal walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach wasn't on our list of things to do, but after doing some research it quickly went on the must do list. I'm so grateful that we had four and a half days in the city because I feel like we really got to explore so many pieces of a truly rich, diverse city. We took an uber ride down to Bondi Beach. Turns out public transportation is not so easy to figure out and it seemed like it was going to cost us $40 to get to the beach and back, or we could take two $20 uber rides which would take less time and be more convenient. Uber in Sydney was the best ride service I've ever had. We attribute that to the friendliness of the Aussies in general, but the drivers were professional, gave us options for routes, and talked story with us too, all in the comfort of very nice cars!
