Camping in Waimanalo

The last few weeks have been pretty laid back, not much going on but everyday routines, which has been nice! This last week Will traveled to Oakland for work meetings. This was his first time traveling off the Hawaiian Islands since January! I have to say it's been really nice to have so much time together these days; which is exactly why we moved to Hawai`i!

A few weeks ago we started playing kickball with some people we got matched with through the kickball league here in Honolulu. Turns out they're pretty cool people who like to go camping! So a few of us from the team along with a few of their other friends went camping at Bellows Field Beach in Waimanalo. This is an active air force base that is open to the public on the weekends. It is also where President Obama goes to the beach during his visits to here.

We got to the camp grounds Saturday afternoon, set up camp, relaxed on the beach, grilled for dinner, sat around a campfire, and walked along the beach under the stars (though it was mostly cloudy that night). And of course we had s'mores!

Relaxin' in the hammock.

Our tent on the left, Will's humongous truck behind it!

Yummy s'mores!
The best part about camping at the beach is waking up at the beach! We woke up, ate breakfast, torn down the tent, and headed out to the beach for a couple hours. Waimanalo beach is perfect for swimming and playing in waves. It's great because you don't feel like the waves will drag you out to sea like on the west side of the island!

Can't wait to back! It's so beautiful!
