A Picture Perfect Maui Day

And it was, in every way possible!

We started the day at Slappy Cakes, a restaurant where you can flip your own pancakes right at the table! Then it was time to pack up our hotel room.

After we checked out, we drove up to Rob and Hali's time share and joined them at the pool. We had a great time in the kiddie pool with the girls. Their little girl loved playing with Uncle Will!

She got him by pouring water over his head with her water can!

After some quality pool time, we took a break for lunch at the pool side restaurant, then headed out to the beach! We built another sand castle and played in the waves. We saw several turtles poke out of the water, and lots of whale tails pop up and backs grazing the surface of the water. Toward the end of the day, when it was almost time for us to go back to the airport, we saw the most spectacular show - several whales were passing through the channel between Maui and Lana`i. We saw them jumping out of the water, blowing water out of their blow holes, the mom jumped, the baby jumped, and then they did the most beautiful, picture perfect tandem jump. By this time everyone on the beach had stopped what they were doing and were watching the magnificent show. Everyone cheered, whistled, and applauded after the mom and baby performed their tandem jump - it was as if we were at a fireworks show! I can still picture the moment. It was a perfect way to end the day!

*While we were enjoying the shoreline of west Maui throughout our weekend we couldn't help but gaze across the Au`au Channel at Lana`i and Moloka`i. As we did we thought to ourselves, what's on the other islands that we could explore? So while we enjoyed our relaxing vacation on Maui, we planned our next vacation on Moloka`i and are going to go for our sixth wedding anniversary later this summer! Plane tickets are booked, hotel and car are booked, activities are being planned. We can't wait to experience the "Real Hawai`i" and see what "The Friendly Isle" has in store for us!
