The Day of "Birthday Awesomeness"
For my birthday I asked Will to plan something for us to do on the Saturday following my birthday. He planned quite the day for us! He didn't tell me anything that we were doing (though I had a few inklings).
We started with breakfast along the Embarcadero at The Posh Bagel. Have you heard of a cronut? Well, it's the new big thing. They started in New York and have made their way to the West Coast. It's a combination of a croissant and a donut; cronut! It was pretty good, but I do have to say I like the plain old donut better. I had to see what the craze is all about, though!
Next it was off to Golden Gate Park. We were visiting the Conservatory of Flowers and the butterfly exhibit! It was Will's first time in a butterfly exhibit.
Also happening in Golden Gate Park this weekend was the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. The festival takes over most of Golden Gate Park and features 3 days of music on 6 stages! We watched G. Love and Special Sauce. It was HOT out so we didn't stay long.
We hopped on the bus to head over to the beach. It was a perfect day for a walk along the ocean!
While we were walking Will revealed that our dinner was planned for the Beach Chalet, right on the ocean, over looking the sunset! It's been on my must do list to have dinner at the Beach Chalet, and to have dinner while we watched the sunset, so this checked off two of those! It's often very foggy along the coast, so we really lucked out with a calm, clear night. Before our dinner reservation we had a little time to pass, so we sat at the bar and shared a flight of beers. Beach Chalet brews their own beers, which we hadn't tried before. I wasn't terribly impressed, but it was fun!
After dinner Will planned for us to go to Punch Line Comedy Club for a show! We used to love going to comedy shows in Minneapolis and hadn't gotten around to one here in SF, yet. No photos allowed at Punchline, but we had a great end to our night at the show.
