More Exploring

Will got home Wednesday night from his trip to Texas and he's probably home now for at least a few weeks before he leaves again. It's been nice taking some time to relax and do a little more exploring! Saturday we used a Groupon to go visit the USS Hornet aircraft carrier that is docked in the San Francisco Bay on Alameda Island. The history behind this ship is amazing. It has participated in World War II and assisted in the recovery of the Apollo space capsule from the first manned mission to the moon. We had a lot of fun exploring through the enormous ship. Will had more fun out on the bridge of the ship than I did. It was SO windy I thought I was going to blow right off the deck and fly into the Bay!

After exploring around the ship, we were excited to go check out a new restaurant that we've been waiting to open since September! From the looks of the website it was open, so we headed over. The Forge is located in Jack London Square, a few blocks from where Will works. Will checked out the menu online and guess what is on there! CHEESE CURDS! I'm sure all of you know me well enough to know that I am in love with cheese curds and they are the one thing I miss so much from the Midwest. So we headed over to check out The Forge! When we got there, we were a little ahead of the game. They were actually having a soft opening that night for friends and family, but they invited us in to have a drink at the bar. After chatting with the bartender and the front of the house supervisor, we learned that sure enough, the chef is from Iowa, hence the cheese curds and Sprecher Root Beer. The front of the house supervisor invited us to stay for the soft opening dinner - so nice!- but we couldn't because we had a birthday party in the city that we had to get going to soon. Tuesday night is their grand opening so we will be going then for dinner!

We went home to eat dinner and change to get ready for the birthday party in San Francisco. The theme was 1983 High School Reunion Murder Mystery. It was so much fun. Everyone really got into it and their roles. Will was an AV geek and I was a pom pon team member. Will and I weren't one of the suspects, rather back-up characters, but we still had a great time!
