Life sure gets busy!

Hi everyone! I am SO sorry that I haven't posted anything for weeks!  After our busy first weekend in August things slowed way down.  Will spent the next two weeks traveling for work.  One week was spent in Sonoma with his entire company as they held meetings and team building activities.  Here is a picture of one of the wineries they visited.

The next week Will traveled to the company's nursery and planting sites outside of Orlando, FL and Houston, TX.  Now we are hoping the trees in Florida didn't get affected too badly by hurricane Isaac.  Will is now back working out of the Oakland office, but is as busy as ever! When he's not in the office working, he is at home working for Terviva or on his thesis.

In the meantime I have been making some friends, going out for drinks with a few people.  I am also deep into the job search, writing a lot of cover letters, tailoring resumes, and attempting to make connections and meet with people whenever I can!

Saturday, August 25th

On Saturday we went kayaking off of Sausalito, which is just on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco and about a forty minute drive from where we live.  We went out at about 9:30 in the morning.  Along with beautiful views of the Bay, we saw harbor seals, pelicans, cormorants, and the infamous "floating homes."  We have a lot of great pictures from this trip, but they are all on our waterproof camera! We hope to use up the remaining exposures at our pool party/BBQ this weekend so we can get them developed. Check back in a week or two for the pictures!  After we went kayaking we stuck around in the city of Sausalito for lunch.  It is a very active town with some old world charm.  Before we headed back to Oakland we took a quick drive through some of the hills. Here is a picture of the bay off Sausalito.  This is where we were kayaking!

 Sunday, August 26th

Sunday was another fun day!  Will and I, along with some friends, attended a jazz festival held along the harbor in the Jack London Square area.  We listened to some great, and some slightly interesting, local jazz groups.  One group was fabulous, and they were all around the age of 13! Here is Will at the bus stop as we are waiting to get to the jazz festival.

We left the jazz festival early to catch the ferry from Oakland to SF to go to a Giants baseball game.  Here we are on the ferry.  We got some great views of Oakland, Alameda, and San Francisco!

These are the great views we got while on the ferry.

Looking back at the harbor at Jack London Square. The hotel you see is the one we stayed at way back in February!

Across the harbor from Oakland is Alameda Island which you see here. The brown building is Pasta Pelican, which we will be trying out soon!

The Port of Oakland.  George Lucas got his idea for the AT-AT Walkers from these cranes!

Port of Oakland, Bay Bridge, San Francisco, and the Golden Gate Bridge! Sooo beautiful!

It was such a beautiful night for a baseball game. The Giants didn't win, but we still had a great time!

After the game we walked along the Embarcadero to the BART station to catch the train home. And again, more beautiful views! I just can't describe how in love with this area I have become.  If we ever move away, my theme song will immediately become "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," although I'd like to change "San Francisco" to "The Bay Area"!

The Bay Bridge, that leads back to Oakland from SF.

More Bay Bridge, this time you can see more of Oakland on the other side.

It was bobble head day and we actually got one! Here Will is displaying it for you.

Along the Embarcadero.

Cupid's Span, the statue was inspired by San Francisco's reputation as the home port of Eros, hence the stereotypical bow and arrow of Cupid.

And that concludes another fun weekend in the Bay Area! Check back again for more updates. I promise I'll be better from here on out!
