Juneteenth Celebrations

I am so proud of Pivot for recognizing Juneteenth as a company holiday this year! It couldn't have come at a better time either; we really just needed a day! TerViva doesn't recognize it yet, but Will took the day off and we went on an adventure! We hadn't been to San Francisco in a long time, and Adeline has been talking about how she crossed the Golden Gate Bridge when she was a teeny tiny baby, so we thought we'd go on a little drive in her newly positioned car seat and drive across some bridges with a stop at the beach!

The day started with rocking Big Doggie George.


Adeline has a couple of favorite songs, and two of them are from Frozen 2 and she can even sing along! We certainly play our fair share of Disney Plus around here, but we also have the songs playing on loop quite frequently! She requested her favorites in the car and sang along! She got a little shy when the camera came out, but you get the idea!

We made it to Chrissy Field East Beach! It was windy but so beautiful and sunny! Adeline could have run on this divider all day!




We attempted a family selfie . . .


But Adeline insisted on just playing in the sand!

After our fill of beach and wind, we piled back in the car for a misty drive across the Golden Gate.



We stopped at the scenic over look on the north end before turning around to cross back over the Golden Gate. We went through tunnels, down Lombard Street, and of course more bridges! It was such a fun morning adventure.

Happy Birthday Will!

No, today isn't Will's actual birthday, it's June 10th, but he is going to be in Hawai`i for a work trip, so we celebrated a little bit early today and made it into his birthday! Continuing with the theme of exploring new places with this beautiful weather, I drove Will out to Stinson Beach and Bolinas for the day. It's about an hour away, and again, thanks to being up early with Adeline, we pulled in and got a great parking spot right before the rush. It was such a gorgeous (but very windy, as in curvy, not strong wind) road! We started our day with brunch on the patio at Breaker's Cafe. We walked around the "town," all one block of it, and saw that there was live music at the other restaurant across the street, Sand Dollar Restaurant. (Yep, two restaurants!) We grabbed a seat and a drink and soaked up the beautiful weather. Adeline loved the music! And she even got a super cute onesie from one of the waitstaff! So cute she's getting free things ...

Mountain Biking through the Redwoods

Will has been yearning to go Mountain biking since the day before we knew we were even moving to California - ha! When we got out here we knew we needed to upgrade my bike, so I got a brand spanking new one on sale at REI back in July. I'd used it several times just around the city, but it was time to go test it out on some trails! We ventured off to Redwood Regional Park which is a whopping 15 minute drive from our apartment, right here in Oakland. We are so lucky to have such diversity in landscape just a short distance from us! When we got there we started off with a picnic lunch in the Redwood Bowl, which is a big opening in the middle of the park. It was an extremely foggy morning. It was 12:15 already and still this foggy! It made for a really cool atmosphere though, it felt like a rainforest inside. Then we were off on our bike ride. A Day in Napa Valley

Beginning with our first wedding anniversary, Will and I have spent a day visiting a winery or two.  It was my dream that someday we would take a trip to Napa or Sonoma to celebrate our anniversary; maybe for our 20th anniversary or the like. Never did I imagine that we would be spending our third wedding anniversary exploring Napa and San Francisco! We decided a short while ago that we didn't want to have to worry about either of us driving, one, because neither of us really knew where we were going, two, so that both of us could look out the windows and enjoy the scenery, and three is a no brainer, we would be tasting wine all day!  We explored some options and decided on a shuttle bus tour that would take us from SF to Napa, take us to several wineries, and end with a ferry ride on the bay back into the city.
