I Love Birthday Weekends!

Will planned an awesome day of fun for my birthday! A while back I had requested paddle boarding on the North Shore along with our favorite beach pizza. So Saturday morning we hopped in the car and were on our way. Our first stop was Starbucks for my traditional birthday Pumpkin Spice Latte. Then we were off to the North Shore.

We got up to Haleiwa Beach Park and pulled up next to the van for our SUP rentals. We went out on the water, which was absolutely perfect. There were some strong gusts of wind here and there, but the water was so smooth. We went into a little cove area and paddled around with at least five different Honu, probably more! The came up out of the water right next to us and swam right under us. We also found a good spot where the waves were breaking and we caught a few gentle ones that moved us along. It couldn't have been better!

After an hour and a half we had worked up an appetite. Will gave me a couple choices and I picked one of our favorites, Louibuenos! We had vanilla-pineapple infused tequila margaritas, chips and salsa and guacamole, and fish tacos. Yum!

I wanted to do a little exploring so after lunch we continued up the road and pulled off at a beach we hadn't stopped at before. We found some fun tide pools to hang out in.

Next it was off to Sharks Cove for a little snorkeling. After swimming around a bit we were getting tired! We relaxed at a nearby beach and planned for the rest of our afternoon. Will went to call in our order for beach pizza, but sadly he wasn't open on Saturday that weekend. (Usually he's open Thurs. - Sat. which was our reasoning for going on Saturday rather than Sunday.) So I came up with a plan B. We would go up the way a bit to Turtle Bay Resort for pupus, drinks, the sunset, and live music. It was just the perfect evening!

Once the sun went down we headed back home. We watched a new movie, "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates." It wasn't the best movie we've ever seen, but it was filmed here in Hawai`i, including at Turtle Bay Resort and we even saw the same table we sat at tonight in a couple parts of the movie!

I couldn't have asked for a better day : )
