I Love You, California!

Well, my new year brings me new adventures - boogie boarding! We had a cheap boogie board a while ago but it broke in half the first time Will used it out on the humongous waves out West. Last Spring we had a great time on Kauai boogie boarding in Hanalei Bay. We've talked so many times since about getting new boards but just never followed through - until today! During our conversations yesterday it came up that we really ought to do this. So Sunday we got up, watched the Bears game of course, then headed to Target to get some boogie boards. Then we went to Bellows Beach Park in Waimanalo to catch some waves. We had so much fun but we were absolutely exhausted! I think I'm a surfer girl now, right?!?! : ) We came home to wash up and then it was time for Sushi at the new Sushi spot that just opened down the street from our house. We ended the night with bubbly and cupcakes that Will picked up earlier. Yum! 32 is pretty great so far!

Will planned an awesome day of fun for my birthday! A while back I had requested paddle boarding on the North Shore along with our favorite beach pizza. So Saturday morning we hopped in the car and were on our way. Our first stop was Starbucks for my traditional birthday Pumpkin Spice Latte. Then we were off to the North Shore. We got up to Haleiwa Beach Park and pulled up next to the van for our SUP rentals. We went out on the water, which was absolutely perfect. There were some strong gusts of wind here and there, but the water was so smooth. We went into a little cove area and paddled around with at least five different Honu, probably more! The came up out of the water right next to us and swam right under us. We also found a good spot where the waves were breaking and we caught a few gentle ones that moved us along. It couldn't have been better! After an hour and a half we had worked up an appetite. Will gave me a couple choices and I picked one of our favorites, Louibue
