Wedding Festivities

Image
Brittany's Solider's Grove, WI wedding was filled with festivities: Thursday night BBQ, Friday yoga and fish-fry dinner, and a beautiful celebration on Saturday. I didn't take many pictures, in part because Brittany had two photographers who captured the entire weekend. I can't wait for the photographers to put up the galleries online. In the meantime, here are a couple pics. Wedding party Evening Dance Reception

Just Like the Good 'Ol Days

This summer Will and I headed back for another Midwest tour, inspired by the wedding of my one and only Miss Brittany Collver! The week before the wedding I met up with Brittany at her mom's house for a little girls' dinner, drinks, and wedding work! I can't even tell you how happy it made me to be able to help Brittany and spend time catching up with her before the festivities. It was just like old times!

MaiTai Maui v2

Image
Remember last year when Will won the MaiTai Maui Tech Night pitch competition? Well this year he was invited back and it just so happened that I was on Maui for a workshop, so I got to join along. Will came and picked me up from KS Maui after my workshop. We stopped in Pa`ia for a Pau Hana drink and listened to some live music before we drove to the Maui Tropical Plantation. The event was a little different this year. There was no pitch competition! Instead there was a keynote speaker, a Q&A session with Bill Mai (co-founder of the MaiTai investor group), giveaways, great drinks and pupus (appetizers). The focus on tonight's event was to network, and of course for the MaiTai group to get in some kiteboarding on the days leading up to the event (you may remember that Will won a kiteboard last year!). During the Q&A Will got a chance to talk with Bill. As the party wound down for most (or just got started for others!) Will and I headed on our way. He took me back to...

Happy Birthday, Will!

I love celebrating Will's birthday! Not only does he deserve to be celebrated, but it always give us a good reason to go adventuring. This year June 10th came at a busy time, with Will having a busy week at work leading up to his bday, and the both of us having travel for the following three weeks! However, we still made sure to sneak in a night of camping up on the windward side of the O`ahu. The weather was saying rain on the windward side, but we kept our fingers crossed for good weather. Once we got up to the campsite at Kahana Bay (about a 45 minute drive from home) we ate our picnic lunch and strolled the beach. Despite a few clouds in the sky the sun was shining, so it was time for a hike! We walked down the way from the campsite and started our way up the mountain to hike crouching lion. About a third of the way up a very steep climb, we came to a clearing. I turned around and immediately my head started to spin and my heart began to race. I felt like I was going t...

Learning about WWII and Beer

Image
Will had heard about a bar called the Brewseum. It is a bar that is filled with memorabilia from WWII to commemorate the war in Hawaii and around the world. The items tell the story of transportation as well as about local hangouts in Honolulu during WWII and a few facts about how they got their beer. (Ask Will if you want to know about that!) Will had been wanting to visit for some time now, and we finally had a weekend evening to go. They also brew their own beer so we got to enjoy some of that as well. Here's Will sitting in Commander Nimitz's vehicle!
