Will's Early Birthday Celebration in the Bay!

We are going to be in Minneapolis for Will's birthday so I thought it would be fun to do a little early birthday celebration with Katie and Alex in the Bay! We know that we'll be back in Oakland after our time in Hawaii, but I still felt like we needed to check some things off our list that we hadn't yet done.

Our day began with a mini road trip to the North side of the Golden Gate Bridge to Mt. Tamalpais. It's 2,571 feet at it's peak and the hike up takes many hours. Instead of doing such a long hike, we drove up to the summit and went on more of a nature walk than a hike around the summit. It was a pretty clear day so we had some beautiful 360 views of the Bay.









After our "hike" it was time for our second destination - Lagunitas Brewery! A couple weeks ago when we hiked Alamere Falls we really wanted to get to Lagunitas in Petaluma, but it was pretty late in the day and Petaluma was another hour and a half away. So today we made sure to build in the time to get there. Will's favorite beer here in Cali is Lagunitas IPA so his birthday celebration seemed like the perfect occasion to visit the brewery. Lagunitas was PACKED! But we were able to get a nice table outside and get a flight of all 16 of their beers on tap and some lunch. After eating and drinking we joined one of the tours to go through the brewery.

The third event for the day was Settler's of Catan and dinner at our apartment. And to top it all off, Will won! WINNER!

Happy Halloween!

Even though last year was technically Adeline's first Halloween, this year felt like the first true Halloween because we got to go out and enjoy the festivities! The Temescal Business District hosted a Trick-or-Treating event for the kids and had fun activities along the way like free books from the library, story time, a dance party at the yoga studio, costume contests, and more I'm sure but we only made it a few blocks! We had a great time and the businesses were so generous and kind to the kids. Our little ladybug! She would only wear the wings from her costume, but she held on to the wand and headband. There was a fun skirt, too but she didn't want anything to do with it. Oh well. People still thought she was cute! Getting some raisins. Still trying to understand the concept of Trick-or-Treating! Will Pitches Hawaii

Will's company, Terviva, recently won a grant allowing them to get a commercial size planting of their trees in the ground. The project will take place mostly on the island of Oahu. As part of the grant program the company is invited to pitch its concept to a group of about 250 private investors from the state of Hawaii. Since Will has been working so hard on getting the project going, he was the person chosen to give the pitch! Will worked incredibly hard preparing for this event and did a great job! Will created new connections and peaked the interest of several people in the audience. Will has received great praise for his work by his colleagues and the people who are offering the grant. A Day in Napa Valley

Beginning with our first wedding anniversary, Will and I have spent a day visiting a winery or two.  It was my dream that someday we would take a trip to Napa or Sonoma to celebrate our anniversary; maybe for our 20th anniversary or the like. Never did I imagine that we would be spending our third wedding anniversary exploring Napa and San Francisco! We decided a short while ago that we didn't want to have to worry about either of us driving, one, because neither of us really knew where we were going, two, so that both of us could look out the windows and enjoy the scenery, and three is a no brainer, we would be tasting wine all day!  We explored some options and decided on a shuttle bus tour that would take us from SF to Napa, take us to several wineries, and end with a ferry ride on the bay back into the city.
