Carmel and a Drive Along the Coast

Monterey has been the farthest south along the coast that we have been, so we were excited to have the opportunity to drive farther along! We started by driving through Monterey. We stopped at Lover's Point for a post Valentine's Day kiss!

Cool "bush" with a pretty bird if you can see him in there!

We continued through Pacific Grove with Carmel as our next destination. We stopped there for a delicious lunch of pizza and salad at Little Napoli. We walked around town, got some coffee, and looked in a few boutiques. Then we went down to the beautiful beach. It was a little chilly and foggy, so not the best weather for a beach walk, but we made the best of it for a little while.

Path leading to the Thomas Kinkade Gallery. So pretty!

We skipped over the 17-mile-drive that goes through Pebble Beach; they charge you for that! No way! But then we were able to get back along the coast to drive toward Big Sur. We stopped many times to take in the beautiful views. My heart fills with happiness just looking at pictures and thinking about what we saw on our trip. We really do live in the most beautiful place!

Bixby Bridge in the background. Seriously, is this not the most beautiful place?!

Taking a seat to take in the view - and pinch myself! I can't believe we live here!

We kept driving until we got to the Big Sur area, and planned that it will be our next weekend trip! It's simply beautiful as well, but deserves more attention than what we were able to give it.

It was time to turn around and head back north to Monterey, about an hour and a half drive from Big Sur. We stopped in for a small dinner at Peter B.'s Brewpub in Monterey where they brew their own beer. We went back to the hotel and relaxed a bit before we called it a night.
